On Multiple Meanings

The words double meaning is almost self-defeating. In many contexts, like in my experience when in presence of people of South Asian community, the words bears a different connotation. Ever utter the words as adjective for any noun such as song, sentence or a phrase and you are sure to raise some eyebrows. In the aforementioned context, one of the meanings has to be dirty and that the listener is expected to know it or to have guessed it. So in a sense double meaning also cancels out its duplicity hence I feel it is “almost self-defeating”.
